David Copperfield
Of all his books, Dickens was fondest of David Copperfield and referred to it as his 'favourite child.' It is considered his most autobiographical story and many of the events in the novel parallel events that occurred in the author's life. The novel features richly drawn characters including David Copperfield, Agnes Wickfield, Uriah Heep and James Steerforth. The story follows David's development from his childhood to maturity. The characters seem to get what they deserve, with the kind-hearted and well-meaning coming out on top.
