Violet Moore Higgins

Violet Moore Higgins (1886-1967) was an American artist, comic book creator and children's story author. She attended the Chicago Institute of Art in the early twentieth century before moving to New York. Her work, highly valued at auction, includes illustrations for Pinocchio, Heidi and The Three Bears. We feature The Lost Giant and Other American Indian Tales Retold, with her dedication:

To My Beloved Father who was always ready with an answer to those questions of childhood: “Did you ever see a ‘really-truly’ Indian?” and “Will you tell me about when you were a little boy?” V.M.H.
